My Favorite: Three Smoothies!


If you asked me what I would eat for the rest of my life if I could only choose one thing... It would be a smoothie. Yup, it doesn't get more California born and raised than that!

I remember my first smoothie in fact...

My new stepmother who was and still is a health nut, who I'm fairly certain rubbed off on me, made me a berry smoothie as a ten year old and fed it to me. I had no idea what it was, nor did many people yet. It was the 90's. I took a sip and that was it. A meal you could sip in a cup? Sign me up.

I'm a busy person. I am. As I'm sure you are too. So if I can squeeze a meal with real ingredients into a cup and take it with me to conquer that crazy world that I live in then I'm going to take it. Plus, nothings better than silky sweet, smoothie to hit the spot when you're starving. Ah, it really would be the only thing I would eat forever and let me tell you, that says A LOT coming from me!

Here are my top three smoothie recipes. I drink these on the daily but try to change the rotation up and add new elements. But, with any great dish it's best to start with the basics. So here they are!

MANGO MAKE YOU LOCO SMOOTHIE

1/4 cup diced frozen or thawed fresh mango

1/2 banana

1 up almond milk

1/4 cup pineapple juice

vanilla protein powder

a dash of cinnamon

Add them to your blender and blend until smooth. This is especially good if you have a sensitive stomach. Mango acts to sooth an upset stomach.

ADULT STRAWBERRY MILKSHAKE


1/4 strawberries

1/2 banana

1 cup unsweetened coconut milk

vanilla protein powder

Blend in a blender and enjoy!

Let me tell you, if you're looking for creamy the coconut milk is gonna do it. Add it to any smoothie. It's amazing. I love this stuff. Let me be clear, this isn't the coconut milk you buy in a can to make soup with. If you're you're going to use that then you might as well make a real milkshake. It's packed with calories. I'm talking the coconut milk you'll find next to the almost milk. Muuuuch healthier for you.

RASPBERRY PEACH SMOOTHIE


1/4 cup raspberries frozen or thawed

1/4 cup diced peaches frozen or thawed

1/2 banana

1 cup almond milk

vanilla protein powder

a good dash of orange juice or a citrus juice

Blend and serve! I prefer frozen fruit-- except I like room temperature bananas. The frozen fruit makes the drink cold, but not too cold.
