Reluctant Housewife: Cinnamon Roll Cake
Updated: Mar 21, 2019
So in L.A. the nights are starting to get colder and the mornings are starting to look misty. It feels like we should all be headed back to school any day now, even if school's only a faint memory.
In fact, it's gotten so cold that the other night at a Dodger game I couldn't help but want that very first warm drink of the season.
I'm taking the month off of caffeine which limits my frothy treats at night. But, then I remembered out of the cobwebs of my mind, something I haven't thought about drinking since I was in school... Hot chocolate.
Wow! Hello old friend! Suddenly I was a kid again and wondering where I could find such a glorious treat. Who needs coffee when you can have CHOCOLATE??!
My ovaries thanked me later.
This Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate is what my mind danced around making while watching the Dodgers play that night. It'll take you back in time-- just in time-- to go back to school.

Cinnamon Roll Cake
Vanilla Cake mix
Add ingredients on the box
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Mix cake mix with ingredients on the box. Eggs, Milk, whatever it calls for.
Melt a half cup of butter in a pot.
Pour mix into a cake pan or glass pan. Pour melted butter on top of cake. Gently blend mixture and butter together.
Take a 1/2 cup of room temperature butter and place in a mixing bowl. Add 2 TBSP flour, and 1 cup brown sugar into the bowl and 1 tsp cinnamon. Take your hands and mix together mixture.
Take bits of your cinnamon mixture and plop onto cake mixture in two inch intervals all across the surface.
Place in your oven for the time the box calls for for your size pan.
Once baked let your cake cool completely.
For the glaze, take a cup of powdered sugar, 1/4 tsp of almond extract and about 1-2 TBSP of water. Take a whisk and whisk together.
Take a spoon and drizzle glaze on top of your cake and let it set up for about ten minutes or longer. Enjoy!
